Food Drive

Did you know that the Jacket Backers encourage and accept donations to local food pantries at all of our events?

Sometimes this gets lost in the excitement of cheering on our team.  But the Jacket Backers are dedicated to helping our community.  That is why we accept food donations at all of our events and share them with various food pantries in the area.  A frequent question that comes up is, "What exactly should we donate?"  Follow this link to the Mid Ohio Food Bank's Grocery List for the answer.

Officer and Committee Chair Elections

This year's elections will be at the Gender Park Condominium Clubhouse on June 27.  Lunch will be available at noon with the elections beginning around 1:00.

The Gender Park Condominium Clubhouse is located at 5152 Aquila Drive, Canal Winchester, OH  43110Please park near the clubhouse.  Do not park in front of residences.

Deli trays and salads will be catered from BT Hoagies.  Soda will also be provided.  If you would like to bring a side dish or dessert you are welcome to do so.

If you are planning on attending please RSVP to president@jacketbackers.org by Thursday, June 25, so that we can order the appropriate amount of food for lunch.
 
As at all Jacket Backer events, we will be collecting food donations to benefit local food banks.  If you can, help the Jacket Backers help others in our community.
 
This is the second day of the draft.  We are not yet sure if we will be able to have television coverage of the draft; at a minimum we will have draft updates via the internet.
 
We are now accepting nominations for Officers and Committee Chairs.  You may nominate yourself or someone other than yourself.  When nominating someone besides yourself, the nomination must be accepted by the nominee prior to the election.  Nominations may be made by sending the nomination to nominations@jacketbackers.org

Please Note:  At the initial Club formation, there was a Board of Directors formed for oversight of the Club.  There were Officers elected separately for the day-to-day operations of the Club.  Last season the Board voted to combine both groups into one Officer group.  This was done because it was believed that the relationship between the Board and Officers was confusing and that for the most part both groups were the same people.  This also eliminated the need to hold two elections annually as the Board Members were elected in January and the Officers were elected in the summer.  In the future, as the club grows and its needs change, this decision may be re-visited.

We are now accepting nominations for Officers and Committee Chairs.  You may nominate yourself or someone other than yourself.  When nominating someone besides yourself, the nomination must be accepted by the nominee prior to election.  Nominations may be made by sending the nomination to nominations@jacketbackers.org.

Two people may be nominated and elected together as Co-Committee Chairs.  Officers must be nominated and elected as individuals.

All officers and committee chairs are up for election. Terms for all positions run for 1 year.

Free Passes to Celebrity Bar Night at Park St. Patio

The Columbus Crew is hosting a celebrity bar night at Park St. Patio from 6-9 on Thursday, June 11.  The event is to help raise money for Get Behind the Badge Charity which aids those injured or killed in the line of duty.  Park St. Patio is located at 533 Park Street in the Arena District.

This event is in coordination with Military and Service Appreciation Day at Crew Stadium on July 18th (the day of our group outing to see the Crew take on Real Salt Lake).  The Jacket Backers are helping sponsor a pregame scrimmage of Columbus Police from 4 -6 pm, before the 8:00 kickoff of the Crew Game.  (Click Here for details on our group outing to the Crew).

As a sponsor, the Jacket Backers have received 15 free passes to the Celebrity Bar Night at Park St. Patio.  This event will feature guest bartenders Danny O'Rourke of the Crew and former OSU Football Players including; Donald Washington, Pepe Pearson and Dee Washington.  In addition there will be raffles and silent auctions to help raise money for Get Behind the Badge.

The free passes for this event will be made available to the first 15 Jacket Backers members who request them.  Admission is $5 without a pass.  Send your request ASAP to treasurer@jacketbackers.org.

Those attending the Celebrity Bar Night will enjoy music by the "Plain White T's" band and will also be able to take advantage of deep Happy Hour discounts and specials, including 99 cent hamburgers.

Announcements From Officers' Meeting

At the last Officers' Meeting, our focus was on preparation for Officer and Committee Chair Elections to be held on June 27.

It was decided to eliminate the positions of Hospitality Chair and Member at Large. The responsibilities of the Hospitality Chair will be assumed by the Vice President.  It is our hope that all of our Officers and Committee Chairs are approachable; all of the officer meetings are public and members are welcome to attend.  Therefore, we believe that the need for an Officer to serve solely as a liaison to our members is not necessary at this time.

In addition, we have created a Historical Committee to maintain a running history and archive for the Jacket Backers.  Kelly Patterson volunteered and was confirmed to begin the committee until elections are held.

Nominations for all positions in the upcoming elections are now being accepted and can be sent to nominations@jacketbackers.org.  You may nominate yourself or someone other than yourself.  When nominating someone besides yourself, the nomination must be accepted by the nominee prior to the election.  We encourage everyone interested to nominate themself and to nominate anyone they believe is qualified.
