We will let you know when our "Clean Up" days are in case you would like to help.

Members, family members and guests (within reason) are invited to join in this free event.  We will be sharing the ice at Nationwide this evening with arena volunteers.  Free skate rental will be provided.  Skaters of all abilities welcome.  Enjoy figure skating or try your hand at making a few shots on goal!

  1. President thanked everyone for attending.
  2. Secretary:  2006 Bi-Laws with 2008 amendment were put into electronic form.  Working in committee to update.
  3. Asst Treasurer:  Periodically verifying Jacket Backer accounts. 
  4. Membership      New Membership cards design was reviewed. Free High School playoff tickets were offered to members.

  5. Activities chair:  Members skate event date changed to 4/24/2013, 6-9PM.  Tour postponed until offseason.   Jacket Backer members plan to join #CBJBWW game watching parties. (4/21/2013 update:  last one is 4/25/2013 at BWW, 3878 Attucks Drive, Powell, 8:30 PM at Dallas).

  6. Travel:  St. Louis trip – The bus was cancelled.  A block of tickets was committed.  Eighteen (18) people attended.  Detroit trip - There were 28 people on the bus.  Six (6) people bought tickets only.  Nashville – There were 49 people.  Feed back from a member in attendance:  “had a great time on the Detroit trip!”  T.J was nominated for travel chair, seconded, accepted by T.J.  Vote was unanimous. 

  7. Community Service:  Ohio health coloring books/magazines, $100 proposed to pay toward buying some, motion, seconded, and voted unanimous.  Donation to Hockey fights Cancer was suggested. $200 was proposed, seconded. Approved.

No surprises - New York Rangers was the most mentioned trip, 38 of you said you'd like to go there!

One of you mentioned heading to Philips Arena in Atlanta to thank them for allowing us to move East!

Other mentioned trips in order of popularity:  Pittsburgh 15, New York Islanders 11, Washington 10, Toronto and Boston tied at 9 each, Detroit 5, Buffalo 4, Nashville 3, Montreal Ottawa and Springfield all tied at 2, and with single mentions Colorado, Florida, Carolina, New Jersey, Columbus, Winnipeg, Chicago, Vancouver and San Jose.  Kinda surprised no one mentioned Edmonton, LA, Phoenix, Dallas, Tampa, Anaheim, Calgary, St. Louis or Minnesota as places they'd most like to head.

We're looking forward to being able to put together some great road trips for next year's season in the East!

We will be leaving from the north side at 10:00 am on Sunday. If you are going with us watch your email for trip details. Final ticket orders are needed by noon on Friday March 1st. If you have purchased your own ticket and would like a ride to Detroit - let us know - round trip bus ride is only $40 per person. We currenly have 22 passengers on a 36 seat bus plus a few that are driving themselves.

Sit back and relax as the Jacket Backers take you to Detroit and back on Sunday, March 10th.

The bus will leave Columbus mid-morning with plans to allow a little pre-game fun in Detroit. Possible destinations include The Anchor Bar, The Hockeytown Cafe or the Greektown Casino. Game time is at 5:00 pm and after enjoying beating the Red Wings, you will be returned safely to Columbus.

We do have a limited number of tickets only available if you do not want to go on the bus or are taking guests/family members under the age of 21.

Cost for members is: (Add $25 each for Non-members)


  • $95 per person for Ticket and Bus Trip

  • $55 per person for Ticket Only


In addition to the bus, the Jacket Backers will provide some refreshments and snacks. We will have some giveaways and a raffle on the bus.

1.  President Julie thanked everyone for coming.
2.  Secretary and Ric Blume will work in committee to update the Bi-laws of the club.
3.  Treasurer:  Detroit Bus was paid in full this morning. 
4.  Community Service – Adopt a Highway, have a location.  We are collecting books and magazines and coloring books for Ohio Health.  Need a volunteer to coordinate collection.
5.  Communications – March 7th is Ohio Health Game. 
6.  Marketing - Discount at Three Legged Mare is good for 10% off regular priced Items.  Patrick will provide something to help communicate.
7.  Membership – Current membership: 342.  Website is kept updated with the current number.  Membership table at games still needs volunteers for a few games.  Volunteers are provided a pass to get into the games, but must arrive one half hour before doors open (usually 90 minutes prior to game). Volunteers can contact secretary@jacketbackers.org  to help. There are seven (7) open dates
8.  Travel – St. Loius: Purchased 25 tickets, 17-20 people attending.  Hotel is taken care of. Detroit 36 passenger bus reserved and paid in full.  Need to finalize ticket count this weekend!  Nashville:  Need more to confirm (pay) for trip or will be hotel and ticket only event.  [2/26/2013 UPDATE: 17 more people signed up since meeting, have we saved the bus yet?]
9.  Activities:  Members Ice Skating is April 18th.
