Jacket Backers Travel Planning 2013 - 2014

We have been hard at work planning trips for the upcoming season.  We are working on a number of opportunities and they are in various states of completion.  We currently have over 300 tickets purchased or reserved in 6 different cities.  We are still working on a couple more possibilities.  As of 10/9/13 this is what we know:

Pittsburgh Penguins - 11/1/13 - CANCELLED 9/5/13 - Group Ticket Sales began Monday 8/26/13.  We were planning on purchasing at least 30 tickets for this game but Pittsburgh's group pricing structure has changed.  Despite being told that upper bowl group seating would be available for this game, we are now being told that only lower bowl tickets are available for group sale at $145 - $155 per ticket.

With the price increase, we were unable to find enough interested people to purchase a block of tickets.  We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.

Ottawa Senators - 11/17/13 - Update:  Time is running out to join this trip.  We currently have 16 people going to Ottawa.  We have to make our final ticket commitment and payment on 10/14.  If you are interested in going on this trip, please purchase your ticket by Sunday 10/13 at 9:00pm.

Tickets only, travel on your own or car pool. Please remember that you will need a valid, signed passport to travel to and from Canada.  Hotel discount code available for the Holiday Inn & Suites - Ottawa Downtown.  Click here for full details.

Tampa Bay Lightning/Florida Panthers - 4/11/14 and 4/12/14 - We have reserved blocks of tickets for both games in Florida.  For the Tampa Lightning game we will be seated in Club Level 209 and the tickets are $53 each.  For the Florida Panthers we will be seated in Section 125 and the tickets are $62 each.

We are also looking to see if we can provide shuttle service from Tampa to Miami and back, as well as find hotel discounts for our group.  You would be responsible for your own air transportation to and from Florida.  Please remember that this is Spring Break Season, so book your travel early (or when you believe you have the best price!)

The Jacket Backers with Support from the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation Present the Community Power Play

The Jacket Backers are proud to announce the Community Power Play!

For each power play goal scored by the Columbus Blue Jackets this season, the Jacket Backers will donate $10 to the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation.

Over the summer we lost our dear friend and dedicated volunteer, David Yatsco.  Shortly after learning of David's passing, thinking about all of the good memories with him, we quickly started wondering what we could do to honor David's life and his great spirit.

Occasionally, when the team hit a rough spot, David would put out a jar on our membership table at home games that asked for "DONATIONS FOR MORE POWER PLAY GOALS".  It was his way of trying to give the team a boost.

Going through some of our stuff this fall, we came across David's jar. It inspired us to come up with the idea of making a donation with every CBJ Power Play Goal.  With the support of the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation the idea of the Community Power Play was born.

With each Power Play goal scored by the Blue Jackets, the Jacket Backers will donate $10 to the Blue Jackets Foundation.  And you can help!  At home games, at all of our events, or online, you can help.  You can help by making a matching donation with us, or any donation you choose, to the Blue Jackets Foundation via the Community Power Play.

We will begin accepting donations at the home opener at our table behind section 116.  When we score a power play goal, stop by our table to make a donation or just to celebrate power play goals with us!  If you are not at the game, we will keep a donation button on our website for your convenience.  All Community Power Play proceeds go to the Columbus Blue Jackets Foundation.

Who has inspired YOU to donate in our Community Power Play?  Share their names and your stories with us!  Email your inspiration to powerplaystory@jacketbackers.org!

This year, we're donating because of Dave.  And John.  And Andy.  And Jane.  And Rick.  And Ryan.  And many more.

Celebrate Life, Celebrate Hockey, Celebrate the Community Power Play and help the Jacket Backers give a little back to our community!
