We are now accepting nominations for Officers and Committee Chairs.  You may nominate yourself or someone other than yourself.  When nominating someone besides yourself, the nomination must be accepted by the nominee prior to election.  Nominations may be made by sending the nomination to nominations@jacketbackers.org.

Two people may be nominated and elected together as Co-Committee Chairs.  Officers must be nominated and elected as individuals.

All officers and committee chairs are up for election. Terms for all positions run for 1 year.

This year's election luncheon will be at the Gender Park Condominium Clubhouse on June 19th.  Lunch will be available at 1 pm with the elections beginning around 2 pm.

The Gender Park Condominium Clubhouse is located at 5152 Aquila Drive, Canal Winchester, OH  43110Please park near the clubhouse.  Do not park in front of residences.

Deli trays and salads will be catered from BT Hoagies.  Soda will also be provided.  If you would like to bring a side dish or dessert you are welcome to do so.  You are also welcome to attend and skip the lunch.

If you are planning on attending and eating, please RSVP to president@jacketbackers.org by Thursday, June 17, so that we can order the appropriate amount of food for lunch.
 
As at all Jacket Backer events, we will be collecting food donations to benefit local food banks.  If you can, help the Jacket Backers help others in our community.

Jacket Backers and Pampered Chef Fundraiser

The Jacket Backers have teamed up with The Pampered Chef for a fundraiser opportunity.  We are having a fundraiser for the Month of May to help raise funds for the Jacket Backers for the upcoming 2010-2011 season.
 
The Pampered Chef has released new products for the spring/summer and still offer the favorites of their guests and hosts.

Hockey Beats Down Breast Cancer Tournament this weekend - join in the fun!

Hockey Beats Down Breast Cancer 2010A letter from fellow Jacket Backer and President of Hockey Beats Down, Thom Wright:

 

As you may or may not all know, this year's Hockey Beats Down Breast Cancer event will be a twelve team tournament which will take place May 7-9 at Chiller Easton. All the profits from this year's event will benefit "The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute" via a donation to the "Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research" in the names of Stephanie Spielman and Heather Pick.
 
The teams that will be participating in this year's event are (in no particular order; actually they are in the order that I remember them, so bear with me this could take a while) D Jets, Sunday D West; Double D Jets, Sunday D West, Garage Bar, Sunday D East; Rusty Pucks, Thursday D East; Beer, Thursday D East; Worthington Industries, Sunday D West; Linworth Leafs, Sunday D East; Black & Tan, Sunday D East; BT3, Sunday D North; Fireballs, Sunday D West; Foxes & Hounds, Sunday D South and last but certainly not least, Bandits, POWHA Travel League - http://www.eteamz.com/powha/. Games start Friday at 6:00 PM, continue all day Saturday from 7:40 AM until 10:30 PM and again on Sunday from 10:00 AM through the conclusion of the Championship game starting at 5:00 PM.
 
This tournament will use the most recent Winter Olympics men's tournament as the format for play; twelve teams broken down into three groups, Groups A, B and C; four teams per group, each team will play each of the other three teams in its group in a round robin format to determine the top four seeded of twelve teams. Those top four seeded teams will have a bye to the quarterfinal round; the remaining eight teams will play highest seed versus lowest seed to qualify for the quarter finals.
 
We still have a few spots open to play if any of the Jacket Backers would be interested in filling some available roster spots; entry fee is $75.00 and there is a four game guarantee.
 
If anyone has a couple hours of their time to spare we are still looking for volunteers to run the score board, make announcements, "baby sit" players children while their parents are playing in their game, help with the silent auction tables or even join us at the conclusion of the day's events at Fadó.  Email volunteer@hockeybeatsdown.org and we'll get you the info you need, or just simply show up.
 
There will be a large variety of silent auction items available for bidding through out the weekend with such items as a CBJ team autographed jersey, player signed collector stick, OSU memorabilia and a raffle with a one of a kind commemorative "Hockey Beats Down Breast Cancer" jersey up grabs as well as some other nice items if you aren't the one who wins the jersey. Raffle tickets prices are 3 for $5, 10 for $10, 30 for $20 and for $50 you can get a string of tickets as tall as one of the volunteers...buyer gets to choose the volunteer too.
